The Wood-Engravings of Timothy Cole: Italian, Dutch, English and Spanish Masters Made for The Century Magazine

92 numbers -- Timothy Cole, the greatest of living wood engravers, was born in London in 1852, and came to American when a child. In 1883 he sailed for Europe and began his work on the series of Old Masters which has placed him at the head of living engravers on wood blocks. Today Mr. Cole is working among the masterpieces of the galleries of France, having engraved in the twenty-four years of his voluntary exile, sixty-seven blocks from famous Italian paintings, thirty blocks from old Dutch and Flemish masterpieces, forty-eight of the old English Masters and twenty-nine representative works of Spanish painters.
