Björn Dahlström

Björn Dahlström is a self-taught furniture and product designer, whose clients include Iittala. He was presented with the Utmärkt Svensk Form (Excellent Swedish Design) award every year from 1991 to 1999, and again in 2002; in 1995, he was also given the Furniture of the Year award from Sköna Hem magazine. His many other awards and honors include a Design Plus award, for the Primus blowtorch (awarded in 1996); Design Prizes in Excellent Swedish Design, for a bench and a motor-driven breaker (1996 and 1997); an Honorable Mention in Excellent Swedish Design, for Iittala cookware (1998); a Design Plus award, also for Iittala cookware (1999); and a Design Award Finland, for Hackman cookware (1999). In 2000, Dahlström received a Special
Prize for Excellent Swedish Design; a year later, he was awarded the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize. In 2002, Dahlström received the iF Design Award for Swedish Designer of the Year. In 2006, he was awarded the +1 Design award from Forum AID for best in show at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. In the same year, he received the Swedish Arts Grants Committee Design Award.
