Borek Sípek

(School of Arts and Crafts, Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1964–69; Hochschule für bildende Künst, Hamburg, Germany, 1970–74; Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands, 1974–79). Borek Sípek is an architect, and a furniture, glass, and metalwork designer. His clients include Ajeto, Driade, Maletti, Sawaya & Moroni, Steltman Gallery, Swarovski, and Vitra. Sípek has received several awards, including an honorable mention, for a glass house, in the German Architecture Competition (1983); the
Kho Liang le prize from the Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst (1989); the Croix de Chevalier de l‘Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1991); the Prins Bernhard Fonds Prize for Architecture and Applied Arts (1993); and the Talent de l’Originalité award at Le Sommet du Luxe et de la Creation, Paris.
