Pia Törnell is a ceramics and metalwork designer. Her clients include Arabia, Hackman, Hammarplast, and Rörstrand; she also produces many of her own designs (as StudioK, co-owned with Hans-Jörgen Lindquist). In 1997, Törnell was awarded the Utmärkt Svensk Form (Excellent Swedish Design) award for her Mantello and Sinus vases. In the same year, she received the Prix de la Decoration at Maison & Objet, Paris, for her Cirrus vase. Other honors include the Design Plus award for Tilda (received in 1998); the Excellent Swedish Design award (2000) and the Design Plus award (2001), both for Grade; and the Swedish Elle Decoration International Design Award from Elle Interiör for Convito.
