Tree of Wishes

free

The Tree of Wishes is a participatory activity related to the calligraphic inscriptions that figure prominently in many of the objects featured in Beauty and Belief: Crossing Bridges with the Arts of Islamic Culture. In the same way that inscriptions often convey good wishes and words of wisdom to the reader, in this activity, visitors write a wish on an adhesive leaf and attach it to a branch of the Tree of Wishes, which is displayed in the pavilion outside the exhibition gallery. This activity will be offered on several occasions during the run of the exhibition. Over time, the tree’s branches will become dense with leaves and visitors will be able to explore a contemporary collective expression of individual and shared hopes.
