Art History on Film: Herb and Dorothy 50x50

The Toby

Herb and Dorothy Vogel visit the first 50X50 exhibition at Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Herb and Dorothy Vogel, a retired postal worker and librarian, built a world class collection of conceptual and minimalist art containing over 4,000 pieces. After transferring the entire collection to the National Gallery of Art (as documented in 2008’s Herb and Dorothy), in late 2008 the Vogels launched The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States in which 2,500 works were donated across the United States. Herb and Dorothy 50x50 captures the last chapter in the Vogel’s extraordinary gift to the nation.
