Campecine Film Festival

DeBoest Lecture Hall | Free

Campecine Film Festival, a program of The Latino/a Youth Collective, is Indiana’s first Latino/a film festival featuring the work of students. This year’s theme: Ni de Aqui, Ni de Alla (Not from here or from there) has dual meaning for the filmmakers. The first relates to the formation process experienced during the exploration of one’s unique identity. The second meaning speaks to the feelings of being an outsider in two cultures as many of the youth are immigrants or children of immigrants from Central and South America and Burma. Community members are invited to screen short films that explore our community from a critical youth perspective. Following the screening, the audience will participate in dialogue on documentary issues ranging from gender identity, immigration, education and much more. Campecine is a free and bilingual event.
