Hell and Back Again

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature

(2011, 88 min, dir. Danfung Dennis)
The winner of the World Cinema Jury Prize Documentary at Sundance 2011 is an intimate portrait of Sergeant Nathan Harris as he returns from Afghanistan with life-threatening injuries and struggles to adjust to civilian life. Intertwined with footage taken while embedded in Sergeant Harris’ unit in Afghanistan, Dennis creates an unblinking look at the shock of war and returning home. Wesley Morris of The Boston Globe writes: “Dennis's film attempts something few documentaries have: to inhabit the psyche of its subject.”

Co-presented by Indy Film Fest.

After the film, enjoy dinner and drinks from the café, which will be open with a full menu until 7 pm.
