Safety Last! with One Week

Live score performed by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra

Don’t miss this once-a-year Toby event: classic film comedies set to a score by Carl Davis, performed by the 30-piece Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. Safety Last! (dir. F. Newmeyer & S. Taylor, 1923, USA, 70 mins.) stars Harold Lloyd—the “third genius” of comedy, along with Keaton and Chaplin—as a country boy who heads to the city and finds himself doing risky publicity stunts. The film contains the most famous shot in silent comedy: a man hanging from the hand of a clock 12 stories above street level. The short One Week (dir. B. Keaton, 1920, USA, 19 mins.) is the story of a bride and groom (Buster Keaton) who receive a build-it-yourself house kit as a wedding gift—a project complicated by a jealous rival. ICO conducted by Kirk Trevor. Films projected by Eric Grayson.
