William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe

The Toby

William Kunstler was one of the most famous lawyers of the 20th century. When he died in 1995, The New York Times called him "the most hated and most loved lawyer in America." His clients included MLK, Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, the inmates in the Attica prison rebellion and members of the American Indian Movement. In this documentary, filmmakers Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kunstler examine their father's life. The film investigates William Kunstler's transformation from a middle class family man into a person of courage who risked everything for his beliefs. William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. More at http://disturbingtheuniverse.com/. Shown in 35 mm. (2009, dirs.
