The Miller House and Garden is owned and cared for by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Tours at Miller House and Garden are made possible through the Columbus Area Visitors Center.     What are the hours?

    Miller House and Garden is open for scheduled tours only. Tours are available:
    Tuesday-Saturday at 1 pm & 3 pm
    Sunday at 1 pm

    Miller House is closed on Mondays. Tours are only available on Friday and Saturday beginning December through February, with additional tours offered between Christmas and New Years in addition to the weekend of the Superbowl. Visit the online tour schedule to check availability for a specific day or to reserve a tour.

    How do I purchase tickets?

    ONLINE - You can purchase ticket online through the Columbus Area Visitors Center.

    PHONE - Reservations can be taken over the phone by calling Ovationtix at: 1-866-811-4111.

    IN-PERSON - The Columbus Area Visitors Center will take reservations on site. Walk-ins will also be accommodated on the day of the tour, if space is available.

    Are group tours available?

    Because of shuttle vehicle capacity, tours are limited to 13 persons. Groups seeking to accommodate larger numbers may contact the Columbus Area Visitors Center at 1-800-468-6564 to discuss arrangements.

    How do I get there?

    NOTE: The Columbus Area Visitors Center is approximately 50 miles from the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

    All tours will begin at the Columbus Area Visitors Center. Visitors will be transported to Miller House and Garden via shuttle. Because of the property’s location in a residential neighborhood, no visitors can be received directly at the Miller property, whether arriving by vehicle or on foot. Please arrive to the Columbus Area Visitors Center 20 minutes before your scheduled tour. The address is: 506 Fifth Street, Columbus, IN 47201.

    Directions from Indianapolis, Louisville

    • From the I-65 exit (exit #68), follow SR 46 East into Columbus.
    • Continue on SR 46E through the stoplight at the intersection with Indiana Highway 11 and cross the red bridge in the center lane, you will see the courthouse straight ahead.
    • Move to the left lane once you have merged onto Second Street, after the stoplight, and as you pass the courthouse.
    • Proceed two blocks east to Franklin Street, watch for brown directional sign for the Visitors Center.
    • Turn left onto Franklin Street, a one-way street north, proceed three blocks.
    • The Visitors Center is on the northeast corner of Fifth & Franklin Street and will be on your right. You may park behind the building – turn right into the parking lot from Franklin Street.

    Directions from Cincinnati

    • From Cincinnati take I-74 to the Greensburg exit #134A.
    • From Greensburg, follow State Road 46 West to Columbus.
    • Upon entering the outskirts of Columbus, you will cross the Clifty Creek Bridge; stay on 46W to Franklin Street (from the bridge it is approximately 2-3 miles to Franklin Street).
    • You will pass a Dairy Queen on the right, where there is a stoplight.
    • The next light is Franklin Street; turn right on Franklin (a one-way street north).
    • Proceed north two blocks to Fifth Street; the Visitors Center will be on the northeast corner on your right. You may park behind the building - turn right into the parking lot from Franklin Street.

    Is photography allowed?

    Photography at Miller House and Garden is not allowed on the tour.

    Anything else I should know?

    COATS AND BAGS - Visitors must place coats and large bags in a shared closet inside the Miller House; no individual or lockable storage is available.

    STROLLERS AND BACKPACKS - The tour through the Miller House will include moving through some constrained spaces; infant strollers are not recommended. Backpacks and backpack child carriers are not permitted.

    UMBRELLAS - Umbrellas are not permitted in the house; storage for umbrellas is provided.

    COMFORT SEATING - A limited amount of lightweight, portable seating is available for use during the tour.

    SURFACES - The tour will traverse hard-surface floors, carpeted areas, outdoor paved surfaces, and gravel-covered areas. Terrazzo terraces surround the house. These are smooth and become slippery when wet; please use caution. Comfortable shoes will make the tour easier and more enjoyable.

    Is the tour handicap accessible?

    Because of its historic nature, the property can present challenges to individuals with mobility concerns, but in most cases there are means available to ease possible difficulties. In order to provide the best possible service, please let us know your needs in advance by calling 800-468-6564.

    The tour route through the house is all on one level, with no stairs or changes in elevation. There are minor variations at thresholds and points of transition from carpeted to uncarpeted surfaces. Doorways in the house are narrow, averaging approximately 30” in width; one wheelchair accommodating these dimensions is available at the Miller House. The shuttle to the house is handicap accessible.

    Is it possible to host events at Miller House?
