Plutarch, a Greek historian and biographer, had a fondness for dramatic appeal that prompted his written work to be only semi-factual. His intent was to use character and dramatic examples of success and failure to illustrate moral lessons. Originally paired with parallel Greek biographies, Makers of Rome: Nine Lives is a collection of nine Roman biographies of men who formed the history of the City of Rome. Book can be purchased in the IMA Store.
