2011 Summer Nights Film Series

From June 3 to August 26, enjoy the Summer Nights Film Series presented every Friday night in the IMA’s spectacular outdoor amphitheater. Since the series debut in 1976, the IMA has hosted 283 screenings of films ranging from black-and-white classics to modern hits.

Assistive listening devices available upon request. Devices can be picked up at the ticket taking station.

    Where do I buy tickets?

    ONLINE: Beginning April 15, members will have exclusive access to online tickets for all Summer Nights films. Online sales for the general public begins May 2. Online sales will be available until 2 pm on the evening of the film.

    ON-SITE: Members can purchase tickets at the IMA beginning April 15. Public tickets will be sold beginning May 2. The outdoor box office will open at 6pm on the evening of a film.

    Tickets are non-refundable.

    Where are the movies shown?

    The IMA’s outdoor amphitheater, located on the west side of the Museum, facing the canal and 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park. Check individual film listings for up to date information on start times or venue changes.

    What time do the movies start?

    The gates open for picnicking at 6 pm for members and 6:30 pm for the public; films begin at 9 pm. For rain-days, films in The Toby will also begin at 9 pm. Check individual film listings for up to date information on start times or venue changes.

    What should I bring?

    Picnic materials, lawn chairs, candles, food, non-alcoholic beverages, blankets, bug repellent, citronella candles, and your friends are our suggestions!

    Do you sell food & beverages?

    Concessions are available from Nourish Café. The concession stand will open at 6 pm and close 30 minutes after the start of each film.

    What is not allowed?

    You may not bring pets, candles taller than 12 inches, grills, or alcoholic beverages. This is also a non-smoking venue. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, are available on-site for purchase.

    What is there to do before the movie begins?

    • Patrons may visit the museum galleries, which are open until 9 pm and free.
    • Have a picnic with friends and family.
    • Have a cocktail or snack in Nourish Café.
    • Shop in the Museum store

    What happens in the case of rain or inclement weather?

    The movie will be screened indoors in The Toby at 9 pm. WTHR’s meteorologist Nicole Misencik will advise the IMA on when to move the film indoors. Follow @NicoleWTHR and @IMAMuseum for the latest updates or become a fan of the IMA on Facebook. The weather decision will be made by 5:30 pm on the day of the film.
