Aziz + Cucher
COMING SOON: Aziz + Cucher: Some People Digital Publication
Collaborative duo Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher have worked together for twenty years, addressing the major dilemmas of our time through large-format, digitally enhanced photographs and video installations. Some People tackles a pressing historical subject—the ongoing and relentless violent engagement between Israel and its Arab neighbors. Both artists have familial roots in the Middle East, and the project represents a powerful and unexpectedly personal response. The publication features essays by Lisa D. Freiman, senior curator and chair of the department of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Tami Katz-Freiman. Also featured is an interview with the artists by Richard Meyer.
The digital publication will expand upon the stories in the print edition, integrating additional photographs, video interviews with the artists, and blog posts from the overseas trip that inspired Some People. An interactive historical timeline is also featured, positioning the artists’ oeuvre alongside significant cultural, political, and societal moments that served as influences throughout their career.
The digital catalogue will be available as a downloadable app, and is the culminating project in a student fellowship developed by the IMA in collaboration with Parsons The New School for Design.
The print catalogue is available in the Online Museum Store.
