Type A Fear Multiple
Available exclusively at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and Goff + Rosenthal Gallery in New York. Type A began developing the Fear multiple prior to the 2008 presidential election. Barack Obama's election as the 44th president of the United States caused them to pause, realizing that America (or just over 50% of America) had finally chosen hope over fear. Type A subsequently altered the direction of the new sculpture, fabricating it in one piece, but then breaking and reassembling it. The result is fractured, yet whole. The object suggests that fear was and still is prominent in American culture but that it has been challenged.
New York based Type A is the collaboration of Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin. Their video, video installation, photography, sculpture and drawing deal with issues of masculinity, competition and collaboration in contemporary society. Type A is represented by Goff + Rosenthal in New York.
