Aziz + Cucher: Some People
Some People is the new body of work by the collaborative duo Anthony Aziz and Sammy Cucher. They have worked together for twenty years, addressing the major dilemmas of our time through large-format, digitally enhanced photographs and video installations. Some People tackles a pressing historical subject - the ongoing and relentless violent engagement between Israel and its Arab neighbors. Both artists have familial roots in the Middle East, and the project represents a powerful and unexpectedly personal response. This publication features essays by Lisa D. Freiman, senior curator and chair of the department of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Tami Katz-Freiman. Also featured is an interview with the artists by Richard Meyer. This exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by the IMA in conjunction with Hatje Cantz, Germany. Generous support for the catalogue is provided by the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation.
