Sand-etched Glass Vase
Mary-Melinda Wellsandt uses functional glass as a surface to explore. The process includes the use of a sandblaster to carve away the glass surface, and then permanent paints, enamels, and other assorted mixed media fill in the negative spaces rendering her original drawings, photos and paintings in a very unique way. Her pieces are meant to be used as floral vessels, but are striking by themselves.
