Hummingbird Banding: Catch & Release
Free
At this second annual event meant for all ages, see these remarkable birds up close and learn how to attract them to your garden. Tim Tolford from the Hummer/Bird Banding Research Collaborative (HBRC) will be catching, banding and releasing hummingbirds. Tim will discuss the migration and feeding patterns of the birds and how his research is important to protecting the birds and their habitat. At the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse, purchase plants and products that attract wildlife to your home. A garden tour will follow at 1 pm (departing from the Greenhouse), highlighting plants that provide nectar to the birds. Kids can create a hummingbird ornament to take home.
Sponsored by the IMA Horticultural Society. This program is eligible for PGP (Professional Growth Plan) points. Attend the event and afterward, email to request a PGP points certificate.
