Sketching in the Galleries

Stop by our Welcome Desk to check-out one of our Art Packs full of art making supplies, and then start your own adventure in the galleries. Children who make drawings using the IMA collection as inspiration are invited to bring them down to Nourish Café to hang them on our community board in exchange for a free cookie!

Behind the Scenes: Provenance Research by Annette Schlagenhauff

Tracking the ownership history (provenance) of a work of art is an interesting but complex task. Look “behind the scenes” with Annette Schlagenhauff, Associate Curator for Research, to see what museums do to ensure that they have clear title to works in their collections. Learn about the vast scale of Nazi looting during World War II, and the massive restitution efforts by the Allies after the war, by way of what research has revealed about several paintings in the IMA’s collection. On-Stage Conversation: 7–8 pm | The Toby
The evening begins with a reception and performance by Sadie Wilhelmi, the lead female gymnast from the Biennale. This will be followed by a series of discussions between the artists and Biennale collaborators, including gymnast Dave Durante, choreographer Rebecca Davis, composer Jonathan Bailey, and IMA staff members.
