Talk & Hike: Nature as Art

free

Art often imitates nature, and with good reason. Many plants and animals are among Earth’s most beautiful creations: Objects d’ art extraordinaire, and the muse for many an artist. Birder, botanist, author, and photographer Jim McCormac will delve into the beautiful world of nature, and how it ties to people. He’ll look at flora and fauna great and small, most of which is in or near your backyard.

Fascinated with birds at a very young age, Jim was actively seeking them in the field by the age of 10. His keen interest in plants led him to become a botanist with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for many years, where he is currently an Avian Education Specialist in their Division of Wildlife. He is author of Birds of Ohio (Lone Pine 2004); The Great Lakes Nature Guide (Lone Pine 2009); and the 2010 Ohioana Book award winner, Wild Ohio: The Best of Our Natural Heritage (Kent State University Press 2009). Learn more about Jim and his travels at his blog Ohio Birds and Biodiversity.
