The Indianapolis Museum of Art is one of the 10 largest and oldest encyclopedic art museums in the United States, serving more than 400,000 visitors and 30,000 school children each year. Encompassing 152 acres, including 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park and Miller House and Garden in Columbus, Indiana, the IMA offers free admission year-round as well as a range of innovative public programs. In 2009, the IMA was awarded the National Medal for Museum and Library Service for its community outreach, and also became the first museum to become an ENERGY STAR partner for its efforts to be more environmentally responsible.
