Teen Arts Council

The Indianapolis Museum of Art Teen Arts Council is a professional development opportunity for local teens and is part of an initiative to enhance the IMA’s relationship with teenage audiences. Four high school seniors and six juniors were selected for the 2015-2016 Council, which meets weekly from Sept. 2015 through May 2016. Council members were sourced from a variety of local high schools, including Pike, Carmel, Greenfield-Central and North Central. All students share a common passion for art and have a variety of specializations and interest areas, including classical music, dance, graphic design, calligraphy and watercolor painting.

The Teen Arts Council provides on-the-job training for students who have an interest in pursuing a career in the arts. Council members have the opportunity to collaborate with IMA staff in brainstorming sessions and planning meetings and receive a behind the scenes look at how we develop programming and exhibitions.

The Council serves as a focus group for potential future programs and contributes suggestions to add more teen-friendly elements to existing programs.

The Council is made possible by the support of Bob and Toni Bader and The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate. The Council is also supported by funds raised during the Museum’s 2014 Monster Drawing Rally.
